Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing on 1,000 Peaks in Blue River
Varied slopes, best snow conditions and an area where there is something new to discover every day. This mixture attracts heliski friends to the mountains around the Blue River Resort. Guests from the Alps even find a piece of home there.
Those who travel with Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing are spoiled for choice. In the huge area, more than 1,000 peaks and just as many downhill runs await skiers and boarders. From challenging steeps to gentle slopes, there is something for every ability. The area in the heart of the Cariboo and Monashee Mountains covers some 4,800 square kilometers. Alpine glaciers, forested valleys, perfect snow quality – heliskiing in Canada at its best.
Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing
The Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing Team does everything to ensure that its guests get as much as possible of the pristine slopes of British Columbia (BC) under their skis. Unlimited Vertical is the magic word. Heliski fans only pay for the service package they have booked. No extra charge is made for additional vertical meters. Trips of well over 5,000 vertical meters per day are by no means uncommon.
Quite in contrast to the Down Days, because the flight statistics stand at a strong 95 percent. If external conditions keep the helicopters on the ground, piste bullies have been available as an alternative since 2007. With them, the skiers head off to Saddle Mountain, where there are groomed slopes as well as deep-snow runs.
Mike Wiegele Blue River Resort: More Heliski-Flair is impossible
Wiegele pitched his tents at Blue River in the 1970s. It still hosts a majority of his guests today. Guests at Blue River Resort stay in handcrafted wooden chalets spread out on the grounds around the main house. There is a very special atmosphere when the many helicopters take off with the numerous guests from all over the world to fly on the 1000 peaks of the Monashees and Cariboos – an impressive picture! For an even more exlusive heliski experience with Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing, check out Albreda Lodge, 45 kilometers to the north.
Warm up in Sun Peaks: Preparation for heliskiing
Before you head out for heliskiing at Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing, plan on stopping in Sun Peaks for several days along the way. In cooperation with Mike Wiegele, special preparation courses are even offered there by heliski guides. The drive from Sun Peaks to Blue River then takes only two and a half hours.“
