Panorama: Cool slopes, hot water and breathtaking heliskiing in Canada

Ski in-Ski out is the magic formula in Panorama. In the ski resort in eastern British Columbia, practically all accommodations are located directly on the slopes and lifts. And best of all, RK heliskiing departs directly from Panorama.

„In Panorama, everyone gets their money’s worth: families, connoisseurs and experts. The resort on the Alberta border offers an enormous amount of variety for all skill levels on its 120 slopes and with RK Heliski right on the doorstep. Those who want to take it easy cruise along under the Mile 1 chairlift. Racers chase down the World Cup Way, on which ski racing legends such as Franz Klammer, Pirmin Zurbriggen or the Canadian Steve Podborski have already raced down into the valley. World Cup races were held on this course in 1985 and 1989.

A real challenge for experts is also Taynton Bowl, which was once a heliskiing area. The treeskiing there is at its best! The Ski Patrol monitors the entire area. Once the bowl is cleared, you can get in there without safety gear to prepare for more off-piste adventures. This is an ideal introduction to catskiing or heliskiing.

After skiing in Panorama: relax in the hot pools and après-ski

For refreshments, take a break at the Summit Hut, known for its fondues. The small Mile 1 Hut is also particularly traditional. The burgers with freshly smoked salmon are a hit, and the fireplace is the most popular spot in the entire ski area on cold days!

After the downhill, it’s off to the T Bar & Grill for après-ski and then to the hot pools right on the valley slope to relax. If you still haven’t had enough, you can do your rounds at the beautifully located cross-country ski center on the famous Grey Wolf golf course or rattle through the woods on snowmobiles. For the evening there are plenty of restaurants and pubs in Panorama. Those looking for more variety can take the shuttle bus and travel to the nearby town of Invermere.“

Insider-Tipp

The crowning glory of any ski vacation in Panorama is a day heliskiing trip with RK. The helicopters take off directly from a base on the outskirts of Panorama. Those who want to take off one hundred percent should book early. But also those who decide spontaneously for a heliskiing adventure are sometimes lucky and get a free place in the helicopter even at short notice.
